Artist Statement
Participating as part of the New Art, New Artist College Student Program. My current series '849 Tappan Ave' explores what mundane possessions reveal about us ? the ring-pops and empty juul pods my roommates and I find under couch cushions, the excessive collection of hot sauces doused on our food, and the alcoholic beverages with which we intoxicate ourselves. While each object is individually a ?thing?, together they begin to tell the story of college culture. I began painting the objects around my cluttered house as a way to memorialize my surroundings, and reveal the absurdity of contemporary college behavior. Yet, spending time with each object turned into a therapeutic and reflective process, savoring what is left of my own college experience.
