Artist Statement
I've asked a lot from my pots over the years: to be both small and large in scale, to function as tableware and decorative objects, to contain food, drink and ideas. They are asked to carry much of what I love in this world, color and pattern drawn from far flung sources including but not limited to modern and contemporary painting, Indian textiles, the Arts and Crafts movement, historical ceramics, botanical illustration and so much more. Years of haunting library shelves, museum hopping, and now browsing the Web all get in there, synthesize, and land in forms which are also born of years of looking, using and loving pottery. It is a true labor of love to make pottery, a daily reminder of our connection to the earth and to each other.
