Artist Statement
When my hands are idle, I have a penchant for folding origami; it is something I learned when I was a child. I find origami to be very beautiful and inspiring: such delicate and small intricate objects created merely from fragile pieces of paper. It especially captivated me to learn the ancient Japanese legend that anyone who folds 1000 paper cranes will be granted a wish. Because of this, I often associate paper cranes with wishes, hopes, and dreams, and origami becomes a personal photographic aid to capture my deepest thoughts and feelings.
