Artist Statement
The Earthworks Macrame studio focuses on exploring non-traditional materials, textures and contemporary techniques to create modern knotted and woven tapestries which elicit the beauty, simplicity, and geometric symmetry of nature.
As the Earthworks label implies, only natural materials such as bamboo, driftwood, river rock, beach stone, found coral, sea glass and organic wool and cotton fibers are used in the work. All the tapestries are hand knotted by Cate McClure. Doug McClure does all stone and glass cutting for the pieces.
